V1 Fourth intercostal space at the right
sternal border
V2 Fourth intercostal space at the left
sternal border
V3 Midway between V2 and V4
V4 Fifth intercostal space at the left of the
midclavicular line
V5 Anterior axillary line at same horizontal
level as V4
V6 Mid-axillary line on same horizontal
level as V4 and V5
LA Left wrist
RA Right wrist
RL Right ankle
LL Left ankle
When connecting the electrodes to the ECG unit, the tiny and fast potential differences originating
from the heart can be detected on the surface of the body between either two individual electrodes
or between one individual electrode and a group of combined electrodes and recorded by
SpiroSphere ECG.
