• Thesashwindowshouldbefullyclosedwhenthehoodisnotinuse.Thishelpskeeptheworkzone
interiorclean.
• Thesashwindowshouldalwaysbeinthenormaloperatingheightatalltimeswhenthehoodisin
use.Evenifthecabinetisleftunattended,
buttheblowerison,thesashwindowshouldneverbe
movedfromthenormaloperatingheight,unlessduringloadingorunloadingofmaterials/apparatus
intothehood.
• Thealarmwillbeactivatedwheneverthesashwindowismovedfromthenormaloperatingheight.
• Thesashwindowmaybe
openedtoitsmaximumpositionforthepurposeofloading/unloadingof
materials/apparatusintothehood.Whenthesashwindowisfullyopened,thealarmsoundmaybe
mutedbypressingMUTEbutton.Lightcanbeturnedontofacilitatecleaning.
3.2StartingandShuttingDowntheDuctlessFumeHood
3.2.1TurningontheHood
1. Raisethesashtotheindicatednormaloperationalheight(READYstate).
2. Turnonthelampbypressingthelampbutton.
3. TurnonthefanbypressingtheFANbutton.InputtheFanPINifasked(default:0001).Thiswillstart
thewarmupprocedure(default:3minutes).All
buttonsaredisabledduringwarmupperiod.
4. Thehoodisreadyforwork.
3.2.2TurningofftheHood
1. TurnoffthefanbypressingtheFANbutton.InputtheFanPINifasked(default:0001).Thiswillstart
thepostpurgeprocedure(default:0minute).Allbuttonsaredisabledduringpostpurgeperiod.
2. Lowerthesashtothefullyclosedposition.Thesashcanbeloweredimmediately
afterturningoffthe
fanasitwillnotinterruptthepostpurgeprocedure.
3.3OperatingtheDuctlessFumeHood
3.3.1WorkingintheHood
• Checkthelabelontheductlessfumehoodtoseewhatchemicalsthehoodisintendedfor–andonly
usethehoodforanyprocedureinvolvingsuchchemicals.
• Ensuretheexhaustisoperatingbeforecommencingwork.
• Afteralltheapparatuses/itemshavebeenarranged,allowtheblowerto
runforanother3minutesin
ordertopurgeworkzoneofcontaminants.
• Minimizeroomactivitysincetheseexternalairflowdisturbancesmayadverselyaffectthehood’s
internalairflow,impairingthecontainmentcapabilitiesofthefumehood.
• Keepyourheadoutsideofthehood.
• Workasfarinto
thehoodaspossibleandwithslow,deliberatemovements,tominimizeairflow
disturbances.
• Workwiththesashasfullyloweredaspossible,utilizingthesashasanaturalbarrier.
• Donotusethishoodasastoragearea.Itemscanblockairflowandinterferewithcontainment.
• Ifperformance
issuspected,oranairflowalarmistriggered(ifinstalled),terminateusage,closethe
sashcompletely,andceasework.
• Donotletorganicchemicalsevaporateinthehood–useaproperwastebottle.Donotleave
uncappedbottlesofchemicalsorwasteinahood.
• Certifythis
hoodannuallytoverifyairflowvelocity,smokepatternsandcontainment.
• Performroutinemaintenanceinaccordancewiththemanufacturer’sinstructions.
