• Connect the common test lead before the live test lead and
remove the live test lead before the common test lead.
• Replace the batteries when the low battery indicator shows
to prevent incorrect measurements.
• Use only specified replacement parts.
• Do not use the tester in distribution systems with voltages
higher than 550 V.
• Comply with local and national safety codes. Use personal
protective equipment (approved rubber gloves, face
protection, and flame-resistant clothes) to prevent shock and
arc blast injury where hazardous live conductors are
exposed.

CAT IV
CAT III Testers are designed to protect against transients in fixed-
equipment installations at the distribution level; CAT IV Testers are
designed to protect against transients from the primary supply level
(overhead or underground utility service).
