Security functions
Securityfunctions
Your notebook has several security features that you can u se to secure y our
system from unauthorised access.
This chapter explains how to use each function, and what the benets are.
Please rem ember that in some cases, for example, forgetting your password,
you may be locked out and unable to access your data . There fore,
please note the following information:
Make regular backups to external storage de vices such as external
hard drives, CD or DVD disks.
Some security functions need you to choose passwords. Make a note
of the passwords and keep them in a safe place .
If you forget your pa sswords you will need to contact the our Service
Desk. Deletion or resetting of passwords is not covered b y your wa rran ty
and a charge w ill be made for assistance.
Use Kensington Lock
Your device comes with a Ke nsington Lock device for the Kensington MicroSaver. With
the Kensington MicroSaver, a sturdy steel cable, you can help protect your notebo ok from
theft. The Kensington MicroSaver is available as an accessory.

Before u
sing the various options for password protection in the BIOS Setup ut ility
to incre
ase data security, please ob serve the following:

ote of the passwords and keep them in a safe place. If you forget your

isor password you will not be able to access your notebook. Passwords are
not cov
ered by your warranty and a charge will be mad e for assistance.
Passw
ordpro tection
Your password can be up to eight characters long and contain letters and numbers.
No distinction is made between uppercase and lowercase.
