Connecting external devices
Connecting an external m onitor
The notebook itself does not have a DVI port. The optional Port Replicator
available for your notebook provides this port.
An analogue monitor is connected to the analogue VGA monitor port, a digital monitor to
the DVI monitor port. Screen output is limited to a maximum of two screens at any one
time (see "
Key comb inations", Page 23, section "Toggle output scre en").

Switch off the notebook and the external monitor.
Plug the data cable of the external monitor into the monitor po rt.
First switch on the external monitor and then the notebook.
You can also switch back and forth between the external monitor and the noteb ook’s
LCD monitor, see chapte r "
Key combinations", Page 23 .
You can display the same picture on the external monitor and the
notebook LCD screen simultaneously.

The HDMI port on your notebook can be used to con nect an external a m plier,
LCD TV or a plasma TV with an HDMI connection.
Connect the data cable to the
external device.
Connect the data cable to the HDMI
port of the notebook.
