On-board SAS-Controller for SAS-HDs and SATA HD`s
The system is equipped with a eight channel SAS on-board controller and embedded "IME".
IME (Integrated Mirroring Enhanced) offers the RAID levels 0, 1, 1E w ithout any additional costs.
IME is a RAID 0, 1 implementation, whereby RAID 1 can operate w ith an odd number of hard disks.
Up to 6 hard disks including one hot spare HD are possible (limited by HHD slots in
system). Administration of IME is possible with the LSI Global Array Manager (GAM).
Window s2000/2003 as w ell as SUSE and RedHat Linux are supported (Restrictions refer to Softw are Configurator)
The SAS IME solution supports 2 independent RAID volumes, one can contain SAS disks the other SATA disks.
No additional components required.

Example with 3 HD`s:
The on-board SAS-controller can be upgraded via the "MegaRaid PCI Express™ ROMB" upgrade kit to a full
SAS RAID controller (RAID 0, 1, 5, 10, 50 ).
The onbaord SAS controller supports the following configuration only:
Six internal SAS or SATA II HD`s in the basic unit, but no optional tape!
no support for external tapes (e.g. SX10)
no support for external discs (e.g. SX30)
