image to be loaded in the next reboot is set up by CLI command (bootselect).
The system checks if the firmware image is correct after it has been downloaded. If
the image CRC check fails, the image file is dropped. This check prevents the fail
runtime image from causing the switch crash.
3.1.1.8. System and CLI logging
The system logs events taken place in the switch. The system logs can be stored on
memory, on the switch storage, or on the device outside of the switch depending
on the setting. The system log is configured by CLI command (logging).
3.1.1.9. Auto Discovery
If network management application supports the Auto Discovery feature, the
software discovers and identifies the switch and automatically set up the switch
with pre-defined parameters to the application. This feature reduces the initial
effort of introducing the switch in to network.
3.1.1.10. Other functions
There are many other various management functions available on the switch. You
can make use of common CLI commands like ping, and traceroute.
The system has a built-in sFlow agent that can monitor network traffic on each port
and generate sFlow data to a sFlow collector. sFlow helps to provide visibility into
network activity, which enables effective management and control of network
resources.
3.1.2. Layer 2 Switching
3.1.2.1. Jumbo Frames
The Jumbo Frames technology is employed in certain situations to reduce the task
load on a server CPU and to transmit large amounts of data efficiently. The Jumbo
Frames Technology predominantly appears where certain applications would
benefit from using a larger frame size (for example, Network File System (NFS)).
The larger frame size eliminates some of the need for fragmentation, leading to
greater throughput. The increase in throughput is particularly valuable on data
