The DS2000-IFR serves basically two functions. The first function is to provide connectivity to Ethernet
and Serial devices and the second is to provide access for these Ethernet and Serial devices over a WAN
(Wide Area Network) to controlling and monitoring functions. The DS2000-IFR can also be configured to
provide on-site connectivity for Ethernet and Serial devices to local Ethernet networks. Figure 1-2,shows
the connectivity that the DS2000-IFR provides.
