Checking and Replacing Auger Shear
Bolts
Remove the shear bolts from the auger shafts and visu-
ally inspect them. If the shear b
olts are worn excessively,
or if they are broken or missing from the auger shaft,
they must be replaced.
Checking the Auger Shear Bolts
Proceed as follows to check auger shear bolts:
1. See Figure 4-4. Remove shear bolts and locknuts
(A) using two 13mm wrenches.

2. Inspe
ct shear bolt condition.
• If shear bolts are not worn excessively or dam-
aged, they can be reinstalled.
• Replace excessively worn or damaged shear bolts.
Replacing
Proceed as follows to replace auger shear bolts:
1. If shea
r bolt hole is not visible, turn auger (B) until
holes in the auger and auger shaft line up.
NOTE: If sh
ear bolt ends are sheared off, push remain-
der of bolt out with a punch.
2. Install ne
w shear bolts and cotter pins once holes
are aligned and clear.
Replacing Auger Belts
Proceed as follows to replace auger belts:
1. See Figure 4-5. Remove the two bolts and rectan-
gular washers (A) from belt cover (B) using a
10mm wrench.

2. See Figure 4-6. Remove two bolts, lock washers,
and flat washers (C) securing belt guide (D) using
a 13
mm wrench. Remove belt guide.

3. See Figure 4-7. Remove the two bolts (E) securing
transmission cover (F) using a 10mm wrench.
