4.11. Belt drive
The GRACE EASY is fitted with an innovative drive belt reinforced with carbon fibre. When
installed properly, the Gates carbon drive is almost completely maintenance-free - it
requires no lubrication or re-tightening.
The carbon fibres in the belt can absorb high tensile forces but are sensitive to bending
loads, notching, shear forces, and blows. Even if the carbon fibres of the belt are enclosed,
you need to take very special care when handling the carbon drive.
Improper handling causes damage to the carbon fibres inside the drive belt. A drive belt
which was previously damaged in such a way can tear suddenly and without warning while
you are riding.
Incorrect assembly or improper handling can lead to damage to the drive belt which
cannot be seen from the outside, e.g. by bending or twisting it. A drive belt
damaged in such a way can tear unexpectedly. Risk of accident and injury!
Handle the drive belt with the utmost care and pay attention to the handling
instructions.
Have a damaged drive belt replaced immediately by a specialist workshop.
When handling the drive belt, avoid the following:
bending it in any direction
twisting it
turning it upside down
bending it against its curvature
bundling it or tying it together with cable ties or cord
using it as a tool
