8 USING THE MULTISYSTEM
8.1 Before you power ON -
Please check you are using the correct Power supply. A 5V 4A Meanwell power supply is
recommended. It must be 5v but you can use a higher current if the 4A Meanwell PSU is not
available.
If you source your own power supply, check that centre pin is marked as Positive (+5V) the outer
connection will be Ground (GND).
The Multisystem has a number of protection devices and circuits to help with overload, overvoltage,
overcurrent and thermal protection.
If you get close to the 4A limit of the recommended power supply, then the thermal overcurrent
fuse should trip out to help protect your power supply and Multisystem board. This ‘Polyfuse’ should
self-reset after some time being switched off.
Ideally use low power devices on the USB if possible. SSD’s and some USB storage normally runs at
around 500mA to ~1.5A.
7 x USB ports are available, so don’t overload the USB power with lots of high drain devices.
