TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDE
WARNING:

To avoid injury from an accidental start, turn the switch OFF and remove the plug from the power source before making any adjustments.

All electrical or mechanical repairs should be done only by qualifi ed service technicians. Contact Hitachi Authorized Service Center.
GENERAL
PROBLEM PROBABLE CAUSE REMEDY
Saw will not start. 1. Saw not plugged in.
2. Faulty switch.
3. Fuse blown or circuit breaker tripped.
4. Cord damaged.
5. Worn, broken brushes.
1. Plug in saw.
2. Have switch replaced by an Authorized Service
Center.
3. Replace fuse or reset circuit breaker.
4. Have cord replaced by an Authorized Service
Center.
5. Replace brushes.
Saw makes unsatisfactory cuts. 1. Dull blade.
2. Blade mounted backwards.
3. Gum or pitch on blade.
4. Incorrect blade for work being done.
1. Replace blade.
2. Turn blade around.
3. Remove blade and clean with turpentine and
coarse steel wool.
4. Change the blade.
Blade does not come up to speed. 1. Extension cord too light or too long.
2. Low supply voltage.
1. Replace with the adaquate size extension cord.
2. Contact the electric company.
Saw vibrates excessively. 1. Blade bolt not tight.
2. Saw not mounted securely to workbench.
3. Workbench on uneven fl oor.
4. Blade or blade fl anges not clean.
1. Tighten blade bolt.
2. Tighten all mounting hardware.
3. Reposition workbench on fl at level surface.
4. Clean blade and blade fl anges.
Does not make accurate miter cuts. 1. Damaged saw blade.
2. Positive stop not adjusted correctly.
3. Workpiece moving.
1. Replace blade.
2. Check and adjust positive stop.
3. Clamp workpiece securely to fence.
Material pinches blade. 1. Cutting bowed material in wrong position. 1. Position bowed material correctly (convex side
to the back fence).
