Engine Oil
Insufficient or contaminated engine
oil adversely affects the service life of
the sliding and moving parts.
Oil change interval:
20 operating hours after the date of
purchase or first month for initial
replacement, then every 100
operating hours or 6 months.
Oil capacity:
4.2 L (4.4 US qt, 3.7 Imp qt)
…when oil filter is not replaced
4.4 L (4.6 US qt, 3.9 Imp qt)
…when oil filter is replaced
Recommended Oil:
SAE 10W-30 engine oil or
equivalent, API Service category SG,
SH or SJ.
<Engine Oil Replacement>
Drain the oil while the engine is still
warm to assure rapid and complete
draining.
1. Position the outboard motor
vertically, and remove the engine
cover. Remove the oil filler cap
(see page 61).
2. Place a suitable container under the
guide.
3. Remove the engine oil drain bolt
and sealing washer using the
wrench and drain the engine oil.
Install a new sealing washer and drain
bolt, and tighten bolt securely.
