t. Use 8500C/C+ arrow keys to move cursor (dotted line) to fundamental peak. The
amplitude readout (in IPS) is shown at the top of the display. Write down this
measurement in Table 5-8.
u. Repeat Steps s and t at the following signal generator frequency: 406.0 +/- 0.1 Hz, 308.0
+/- 0.1 Hz, 210.0 +/- 0.1 Hz, 154.0 +/- 0.1 Hz, 98.0 +/- 0.1 Hz.
NOTE: Each time you change to a new signal generator frequency, move marker on
spectrum analyzer to signal frequency. Re-adjust signal source amplitude, if necessary, until
amplitude on spectrum analyzer displays 134.4 +/- 0.5 mV RMS.
v. Press SETUP key.
w. Key in 16596 (rpm) with numeric keys in MAXIMUM FREQUENCY field.
x. Press ENTER soft key.
y. Set up signal generator as follows: for channel connected to Velocimeter input, set to
Frequency = 51.0 +/- 0.05 Hz, Waveform =Square wave. Monitor signal generator output
with spectrum analyzer with marker at 51.0 Hz. Adjust signal generator output channel
connected to Velocimeter input until amplitude is 134.4 +/- 0.5 mV RMS.
z. Wait 10 seconds and then press START to acquire another spectrum at the new input
signal frequency. Write down the amplitude of the fundamental peak in Table 5-7.
aa. Repeat Step z at the following signal generator frequencies: 21.0 +/- 0.1 Hz, 9.0 +/- 0.05
Hz, 6.0 +/- 0.05 Hz, 3.0 Hz.
NOTE: Each time you change to a new signal generator frequency, move marker on
spectrum analyzer to signal frequency. Re-adjust signal source amplitude, if necessary, until
amplitude on spectrum analyzer displays 134.4 +/- 0.5 mV RMS.
ab. The amplitude of the peak at the signal frequency (fundamental) should be within range of
9.5 to 10.4 IPS inclusive. If any values are out of range, refer to Section 5.6.
