7. TROUBLESHOOTING
7.17 SYMPTOM: PRINTER INOPERATIVE
CHECK DIAGNOSTIC / ACTION
1. Is the fluorescent tube on? 1. NO: Replace the power supply (same voltage
for light and motors).
2. Check the configuration: is there anything
wrong?
2. YES: Reconfigure. Print inhibit with digital input
("ACTION" parameter) Print inhibit with alarm
("ACTION" parameter) Check speed 1 and
speed 2.
3. Is the chart correctly installed in the chart
cassette?
3. NO: Install the chart correctly.
4. Is the chart damaged? 4. YES: Advance chart beyond damaged section
5. Is the chart cassette engaged in the
chassis?
5. NO: Insert the chart cassette into the chassis
properly.
6. Remove the chart cassette and push the
paper detection switch on the left side.
Do you see the paper advance gear
tuning, carriage, color and ribbon
moving?
6. YES: Check point above.
Check if paper switch deformed.
Check if chart cassette damaged.
NO: Verify power supply (light).
Verify paper switch connection on the
backplane board.
Replace paper switch.
Check CPU board.
7. Is carriage always going left or always
going right?
7. YES: Check opto sensor connections.
7.18 SYMPTOM: ADVANCE PAPER INOPERATIVE
CHECK DIAGNOSTIC / ACTION
1. Only chart still not functioning 1. Check motor connection on backplane board.
Check motor about 80 Ω per coil.
Check gear box.
Check cassette gear.
If not, replace CPU board.
7.19 SYMPTOM: CARRIAGE INOPERATIVE
CHECK DIAGNOSTIC / ACTION
1. Is the belt correctly installed? 1. NO: Reinstall belt.
2. Is the carriage motor properly connected
on backplane board?
2. NO: Reconnect the motor.
3. Is the motor coil about 7 Ω per coil?
3. NO: Change motor.
4. Is the pulley free to rotate? 4. NO: Change pulley.
5. If the problem still present 5. Check backplane board.
Check CPU board.
