What to do if HP MSA 2050 Storage enclosure does not initialize?
    • G
      greenekathrynAug 20, 2025
If the HP Storage enclosure doesn't initialize, a few things could be the issue. First, perform a rescan. If that doesn't work, power cycle the system. Also, check that the power cord is properly connected and verify the power source. Finally, check the event log for any errors.

Why is the front panel Fault/Service Required LED amber on my HP MSA 2050 Storage enclosure?
    • A
      Andrew SmithAug 22, 2025
If the front panel Fault/Service Required LED on your HP Storage enclosure is amber, it indicates a fault. Check the LEDs on the back of the controller enclosure to identify the source of the fault, whether it's a FRU or connection. Review the event log for specific details and follow any recommended actions. If you were installing an I/O module FRU, try removing and reinstalling it, then check the event log for errors. If the problem persists, isolate the fault and contact an authorized service provider for assistance, as replacement might be necessary.

Why is the power supply Input Power Source LED off on my HP MSA 2050?
    • L
      Lee FigueroaAug 25, 2025
If the Input Power Source LED on the HP Storage power supply is off, it means the power supply isn't getting enough power. Verify that the power cord is properly connected and check the power source. Also, check that the power supply FRU is firmly locked into position. Check the event log in the SMU for specific information and follow any recommended actions. If the problem continues, isolate the fault and contact an authorized service provider.

What to do if Host Link Status LED is off on HP MSA 2050?
    • W
      William GriffinAug 26, 2025
If the Host Link Status LED is off on a connected port of your HP Storage, the link is down. Check the cable connections and reseat them if needed. Inspect the cables for any damage, and replace them if necessary. Try swapping cables to see if the fault is due to a defective cable. Verify that the switch (if any) is working properly, and test with another port if possible. Ensure the HBA is fully seated and the PCI slot is powered on. Review the event logs in the SMU for specific fault indicators in a host data path component, and follow any recommended actions. If the issue persists, contact an authorized service provider.

What does it mean if the rear panel Fault/Service Required LED is amber on HP MSA 2050 Storage enclosure?
    • P
      Phillip DavisAug 27, 2025
If the rear panel Fault/Service Required LED on the HP Storage enclosure is amber, it could indicate a hardware-controlled power-up error, a cache flush error, or a cache self-refresh error. Try restarting the controller from the other controller using the SMU or the CLI. If that doesn't fix it, remove the controller and reinsert it. If the problem persists, contact an authorized service provider for assistance, as the controller may need to be replaced.

Why is Expansion Port Status LED off on HP MSA 2050?
    • M
      Michael BurnsAug 29, 2025
If the Expansion Port Status LED is off on a connected port of your HP Storage, the link is down. Check the cable connections and reseat if necessary. Inspect the cable for damage and replace it if needed. Swap cables to see if the fault is caused by a defective cable. Review the event logs in the SMU for indicators of a specific fault in a host data path component and follow any recommended actions. If the issue persists, contact an authorized service provider.

Why is the Fault/UID LED blinking amber on my HP MSA 2050 disk drive?
    • M
Ms. Kimberly Maynard DVMSep 1, 2025
If the Fault/UID LED on the HP Storage disk drive module is blinking amber, it means the disk drive is offline, and a predictive failure alert may have been received for it. Check the event log for specific details regarding the fault. Isolate the fault and contact an authorized service provider for assistance.

Why is the rear panel FRU OK LED off on my HP MSA 2050 Storage enclosure?
    • D
      David BartlettSep 2, 2025
If the rear panel FRU OK LED on the HP Storage enclosure is off, check that the controller module is fully inserted and latched in place, and that the enclosure is powered on. Also, check the event log for specific details regarding the failure.

Why are both disk drive module LEDs off on my HP Storage?
    • C
      cynthia72Sep 5, 2025
If both the Online/Activity and Fault/UID LEDs are off on the HP Storage disk drive module, it could mean there's no power, the disk is offline, or the disk isn't configured. Check that the disk drive is fully inserted and latched in place, and that the enclosure is powered on.

How to fix invalid cabling connection on HP Storage?
    • R
      ronald73Sep 7, 2025
If you have an invalid cabling connection on your HP Storage, verify the controller enclosure cabling and ensure you're using the proper cables. Check the cabling paths for host connections and ensure the cabling paths between replication ports and switches are visible to one another. Make sure cable connections are securely fastened. Inspect cables for damage and replace them if necessary.
