• Shutting down or bringing up an E1 line also shuts down or brings up the serial interface created
for it.
• To shut down or bring up only the serial interface for an E3, unframed E1, or framed E1 channel,
use the shutdown or undo shutdown command in serial interface view.
To configure a CE3 interface in CE3 mode:

• In method 1, the operating
mode is CE1.
• In method 2, the operating
mode is framed, and no
channel sets are created.
5. (Optional.) Configure the

8. (Optional.) Set the national
bit.

9. (Optional.) Enable loopback.
• For the CE3 interface:

• For an E1 line:
e1 line-number set loopback

By default, loopback is disabled.
10. Set E1 framing format on an
E1 line.
e1 line-number set frame-format
{ crc4 | no-crc4 }
The default is no-crc4.
