Slide the server into the rack.
9. Connect the LAN segment cables.
10. Connect each power cord to the server.
11. Connect each power cord to the power source.
12. Power up the server (on page 24).
HP 12G SAS Expander Card
Before installing the HP 12G SAS Expander Card, observe the following requirements:
• The following components must be installed:
o Storage controller
o Drive cages:
— For 24 SFF drive configuration—Bay 1 and bay 2 8 SFF front drive cages
— For 12 LFF drive configuration—12 LFF front drive cage
— For configurations using the rear drive cage—2 SFF rear drive cage or 3 LFF rear drive cage
• The SAS expander card is supported only in slot 2 of the primary PCI riser cage. It is not supported in
the secondary riser cage.
• To ensure cables are connected correctly, observe the labels on the cable and component connectors.
• Be sure you have the latest firmware for the controllers, HBAs, and the expander card. To download the
latest firmware, see the HP website (http://www.hp.com/go/hpsc).
• Understand the required cable connections:
o Group A—Controller to SAS expander card
