6.1 Appendix A Indicators
RUN/ALM Indicator
l When an AR530 series switching router has no USB flash drive connected, its
RUN/ALM indicator is used as the system indicator. When a USB flash drive is
installed, the RUN/ALM indicator is used as the USB indicator. Table 6-1 describes the
possible states of the RUN/ALM indicator on an AR530 series switching router.
l Table 6-2 describes the possible states of the RUN/ALM indicator on a 180 W PoE
midspan.

Color Description
RUN/ALM Red and green Used as the system indicator:
l Slow blinking green: The system is
running properly.
l Fast blinking green: The system is
loading or upgrading the software.
l Steady red: A fault or alarm that affects
services has occurred and must be
handled immediately.
l Off: The system software is not running
or is resetting.
Used as the USB indicator:
After a USB flash drive is installed, the
RUN/ALM indicator fast blinks red for 3
seconds, indicating that it enters the USB
indicator mode.
In USB indicator mode:
l Steady green: The system has been
upgraded using the USB flash drive.
l Fast blinking green: The system is being
upgraded using the USB flash drive.
l Steady red: The system failed to be
upgraded using the USB flash drive.
After the USB flash drive is removed, the
RUN/ALM indicator slow blinks red for 3
seconds, indicating that it enters the system
indicator mode.
