4.8.4 Connecting RS485 and DI Cables
Context
NOTICE
l Do not power on the router before you finish connecting cables.
l When connecting cables, notice interface identifiers to ensure correct cable connections.
Incorrect cable connections may cause damage to the interface module or the router.
Tools and Accessories
l Wire stripper
l Flat-head screwdriver
l 8-pin terminal block
l Eight cables (separately purchased)
Procedure
Step 1 Assemble the RS485 and DI cables.
NOTE
l Eight cables are connected to the 8-pin terminal block in the same way. The following procedure
uses one cable as an example.
l Insert the eight cables into the 8-pin terminal block from left to right in the following sequence:
RS485-0 (A, B), RS485-1 (A, B), DI0 (two), and DI1 (two).
1. Use a wire stripper to peel about 7 mm length of insulation coating off one end of the
cable.
NOTICE
Do not cut the metal conductor of the cable when peeling insulation coating.
2. Hold down the white button above a wire hole on the 8-pin terminal block to open the
reed.
3. Insert the bare wire into the wire hole.
