5 DMR System Considerations
This chapter introduces the System software version Compatible and function
interaction.
5.1 Important notes of R4.0 update
5.1.1 Subscriber
1. Please note that the SELP version of R3.5 and R4.0 software are not
interoperable. As such, it is recommended to have all the system (subscriber and
repeaters) upgraded to the same release if interoperability is required as only same
versions of the vocoder is able to encode/decode the voice correctly.
2. Please note that roaming is disabled when it is shipped from factory in R4.0.
(Please contact your nearest sales support to get more information on this!
Considering this feature is free for trial usage in R3.5, as such, for users who
perform software upgrade to R4.0, they can still enjoy the roaming feature for free
after the upgrade!)
3. Please note that SELP vocoder is not able to encode a demodulated voice
correctly, During in Analog/Digital back-to-back operation, the audio repeated from
digital is bad. The audio will be distorted while talking. We have fixed and closed this
issue in R4.5 version.
5.1.2 Repeater
1. Please note that due to the enhancement in Multi-site framework to ease the
network administrator installation of slave repeaters in LAN without needing to set
the port forwarding, this has caused the R3.5 repeater to not be able to
communicate with R4.0 repeater. As such, for user who are using IP Multi-Site
Connect, it is recommended to have all the repeaters upgraded to the same
software for interoperability.
