Code Key
The CODE key (Fig~re 5-12) is located
to the left of the spacebar. Its pur-
pose is to allow alternate or addi-
tional functions to be performed using
the existing keys. Holding the CODE
key down, and pressing one of the
function character keys will, cause
the system to perform the function on
the front of the function character
key.
Enter Key
The ENTER key (Figure 5-12) is mounted
to the right of the spacebar. It is
recessed approximately 3 mm (0.120
inch) below the spacebar to prevent
accidental keying. The ENTER key is
used by the operator to enter func-
tions, view format changes, or step
through a sequence of prompts.

Keyboard Speakers
The speaker gives the operator two
audio feedback responses. A clicking
sound is produced after each valid
keystroke and is repeated while a val-
id typamatic key is held pressed. A
one kHz tone is produced for other
operator feedback. The duration of
the tone and the number of tones gen-
erated is determined by the system
software based on the type of feedback
required by the operator. The Type A
keyboard speaker is attached to the
keyboard framfa and is electronically
connected to the keyboard logic board
by a two-pin connector (Figure 5-13).
The Type B keyboard speaker is a audio
transducer mounted to the keyboard
frame. The transducer is connected to
the keyboard logic card by a three-pin
connector. The volume of the speaker
can be controlled by a thumb-wheel
located on the bottom rear of the key-
board.
