restore Restores the settings.
filename
The file to save settings to or restore settings from. If no filename is specified, the script default to WmiCon-
f.txt.
NOTE: The static IP address and WINS configuration are saved to separate files (StaticIP.txt and
WINS.txt). You cannot choose the path or names for these files. If you wish restore these settings, the files
must be in the same directory as the SavResDX.vbs script.
/bdf
If you specify /bdf during a restore, the script attempts to restore the configuration based on the PCI
Bus:Device:Function:Segment values of the saved configuration. If you removed, added, or moved a NIC
to a different slot, this may result in the script applying the saved settings to a different device.
NOTES:
l
If the restore system is not identical to the saved system, the script may not restore any settings
when the /bdf option is specified.
l
Virtual Function devices do not support the /bdf option.

System Management Architecture for Server Hardware (SMASH): Saving
and Restoring an Adapter's Configuration Settings
The System Management Architecture for Server Hardware (SMASH), version 2.0, supports a suite of specifications
that include architectural semantics, industry standard protocols, and profiles to unify the management of the data cen-
ter. SMASH provides a feature-rich system management environment, allowing you to manage hardware through the
CIM standard interface.
The SMASH Provider exposes information about network adapters and allows you to update firmware through the CIM
Object Manager (CIMOM). A client application, running a layer above CIMOM, can query the standard CIM interface for
enumerating network adapters and executing modification methods. SMASH allows the client application to:
l
Discover, configure and display network adapter information
l
Display PCI structure organization
l
Display physical assets of hardware
l
Display software and firmware version information
l
Display boot configuration settings
l
View progress and control software updates
l
View and manage software update results
