- Verify correct operation of the probe and check the pressure. To
this end, carry out the following sequence of steps:
o Fit a new earpiece to the probe;
o Select the tympanometry test;
o Check that the probe is identified as being open;
o Start the test in manual mode and check that the internal
pump carries out pressurization cycles until the point, after a
few seconds, that a pressure loss alert is generated, then press
OK;
o Occlude the probe by placing a finger over it;
o Check that the probe is identified as being closed;
o Start the test manually and make certain it is carried out in a
few seconds, showing a tympanometry graph that appears
blank, with ECV < 0.2 ml;
o If calibration cavities of 0.5 ml, 2.0 ml and 5.0 ml capacity
are available, run a tympanometry test on each one and check
that the ECV value obtained is compatible in each case.
- If the optional acoustic reflex license is installed:
o Select the reflex test, holding the probe open;
o Check that the probe is identified as being open;
o Start the test manually and check that the cycle is performed
as expected, given the reflex configuration selected; bringing
the tip of the probe closer to the ear, in noiseless conditions,
the stimuli should be audible.
