4.3 Power assisted brake system
Measure the thickness of the brake linings of the
brake shoes
Examine the wear of the brake bands through the brake plate
inspection hole. The inspection must always be performed before
adjustment of the brakes. When inspection shows that the thickness
of the brake bands is close to the minimum thickness of 8 mm, the
bands must be replaced.
Examine the slack adjuster
NOTE
If the brake system has automated slack adjuster the adjustment pro‐
cedure is not necessary.
1 Raise the wheel off the ground.
2 Use a wrench to turn the adjusting nut (A) clockwise until the
brake shoes contact the drum.
3 Then turn the adjusting nut (A) counterclockwise 3/4 turn.
4 Test the vehicle before you return it to service.
NOTE
Do not use electric or pneumatic wrench.
