11.4 Alternator
General
The machine has an alternator which is equipped with an internal
regulator. The alternator is mounted on the engine block and it is
powered by the crankshaft through the auxiliary drive belt.
The normal charging voltage is at least 27 VDC. The charging indi‐
cator light (Operator's manual, Section
4.11
) is lit, if the battery volt‐
age is higher than the voltage supplied by the alternator. If the indi‐
cator light is lit while the engine is running, the alternator has a mal‐
function.
Examine the alternator
1 Clean the alternator externally.
2 Examine that the alternator is securely fastened.
3 Examine the fastening and condition of the alternator cables.
Be careful not to ground or short-circuit the wires with each
other.
