If any of the above conditions are found, replace the crank‐
case breather tube catch bottle. Contact an authorized repair
location.
Replace the crankcase ventilation filter
The crankcase ventilation filter is located on top of the rocker lever
cover, between the rocker lever cover and the crankcase ventilation
filter cover.
Remove
WARNING
EXPLOSION HAZARD!
Batteries can emit explosive gases.
To reduce the possibility of personal injury, always ventilate the
compartment before servicing the batteries. To reduce the possibil‐
ity of arcing, remove the negative (-) battery cable first and attach
the negative (-) battery cable last.
1 Disconnect the battery cables. Refer to the original equipment
manufacturer (OEM) service manual.
2 Remove any fasteners securing the crankcase breather tube
to the engine.
3 Loosen the crankcase breather tube hose clamps and remove
the tube from the ventilation assembly.
4 Remove the oil fill cap.
5 Remove the crankcase ventilation filter cover capscrews.
CAUTION
Do not use pneumatic tools to remove the breather cover cap‐
screws. Damage to the rocker cover can result.
6 Remove the filter cover.
NOTE
Make note of the locations of the crankcase ventilation filter cover
studs during dissassembly.
