Assembly Replacement
Rear Panel (N5173B/83B)

Tools Required
T-10 driver
5/8” hex-nut driver (p/n: 8710-2546)
Removal Procedure
Refer to Figure 15-41 for this procedure.
1. Disconnect the power cord.
2. Remove the covers from the signal generator. Refer to “Outer Cover” on
page 336, “Inner Top Cover” on page 338, and “Inner Bottom Cover” on
page 340.
3. Place the signal generator flat with the rear panel facing you.
4. If Option 006 is installed, refer to Figure 15-42. Remove the Flash Memory
card (1) and cover (2).
5. Using the 5/8” hex-nut driver, remove the nuts and washers (1) securing
the A3 RF assembly BNC’s to the rear panel.
6. Using the T-10 driver, remove the two screws (2) (0515-1227) and the
eleven screws (3) (0515-0372) securing the rear panel to the signal
generators chassis.
7. Pull the rear panel away from the signal generator’s chassis.
Replacement Procedure
1. Reverse the order of the removal procedure.
2. Recommended torque for all screws is 9 in–lbs.
3. Recommended torque for all BNC connectors is 21 in–lbs.
