Thebatteryisnotprovidedwithanyhazardsidentication.Itisnotclassiedas
dangerousorhazardouswithnormaluse.Thebatteryshouldnotbeopenedorburned.
Thebatterycontainsdangerousingredients.Exposuretotheingredientscontained
withinthebatterycellscouldbeharmful.Thereisnoexpectedreleaseduringuseofthe
batterypack.Thebatterycellsincludesabarrierpreventingexposuretotheuserandthe
environment.ThebatterycellsarenotclassiedashazardousaccordingtoRegulation
(EC)No.1272/2008.
Thechemicalsinthebatterycellsarecontainedinasealedenclosure.Riskofexposure
occursonlyifthecellismechanically,thermallyorelectricallyabusedtothepoint
ofcompromisingtheenclosure.Ifthisoccurs,exposuretotheelectrolytesolution
containedwithincanoccurbyinhalation,ingestion,eyecontactandskincontact.The
electrolytesolutionwouldbecorrosiveandcancauseirritationandburns.
Otherhazards:
•Overcharge–Ifthecellsthatformthebatteryareovercharged,theresultsmaybe
thermalrunaway.
•Externalre–Internalpressureandthermalrunawaymaybetheconsequenceifthe
cellsinsidethebatteryareexposedtotemperaturesabove85°C.
•Internalshortcircuit–Internalshortcircuitinacell.Destructionoftheseparatorcan
causeashortcircuitbetweenthenodeandcathode.Thermalrunawayandreis
possible.
•Wateringression–Internalpressure,thermalrunwayandchemicalreactionsmaybe
theconsequence.
Thetransponderhasapressurereliefvalveatthebottomoftheunit.Therelief
valvepreventsoverpressure.Noxiousgasesandingredientswillthenleakoutofthe
transponderuntilthechemicalreactionshavestopped.
