Section6:Accidentalreleasemeasures
Duringnormaloperation,accidentalreleasemeasuresarenotapplicable.Extreme
mechanical,thermalorelectricalabusetothetransponderinwhichthebatteryisused
mayresultinrupturedsealandexposure.Asanimmediateprecautionarymeasure,
isolatespillorleakareaforatleast25meters(75feet)inalldirections.Keep
unauthorizedpersonnelaway.Stayupwind.Keepoutoflowareas.Ventilateclosed
areasbeforeentering.Wearadequatepersonalprotectiveequipment.Preventmaterial
fromcontaminatingsoilandfromenteringsewersorwaterways.Stoptheleakifsafeto
doso.Containthespilledliquidwithdrysandorearth.Cleanupspillsimmediately.
Absorbspilledmaterialwithaninertabsorbent(drysandorearth).Scoopcontaminated
absorbentintoanacceptablewastecontainer.Collectallcontaminatedabsorbentand
disposeofaccordingtorelevantregulations.Scrubtheareawithdetergentandwater;
collectallcontaminatedwashwaterforproperdisposal.
Section7:Handlingandstorage
Donotopen,dissemble,crushorburnthebattery.Donotexposethebatteryto
temperaturesoutsidetherangeof-30°Cto70°C.Storethebatteryinadrylocation.To
minimizeanyadverseaffectsonbatteryperformanceitisrecommendedthatitiskeptat
roomtemperature(25°C+/-5°C).Elevatedtemperaturescanresultinshortenedlife.
Forlongtermstoragethetranspondersshouldbefullychargedandrechargedevery6
months.Iftranspondersarelefttodepletecompletely,itmightbeimpossibletocharge
themagain.
Section8:Exposurecontrolandpersonal
protection
Airborneexposurestohazardoussubstancesarenotexpectedwhenthebatteryisused
foritsintendedpurpose.Noprotection(respirator,skinand/oreye)arethenrequired.If
thebatteryisdamaged,andyouareexposedtothechemicalsinsideit,properpersonal
protectionisrequired.
