Playing and recording rhythm
styles (Rhythm mode)
The STAGEMAN 80 has twenty-four built-in rhythm styles.
You can sing or perform on an instrument while a rhythm
style is being played. Your performance can also be recorded
on the recorder along with the rhythm style.
Let’s try out rhythm styles of various genres.
Selecting and playing a rhythm style

1. Press the [RHYTHM] buon to enter Rhythm mode (the
buon lights up).
2. Set the VOLUME knob to a fairly low level, and set the
RHYTHM/PLAY knob to about the 3 o’clock position.
The STAGEMAN 80 has a relatively loud maximum
output, so be careful of the volume seings when you
begin playing.
3. Use the [(1) 8 BEAT1]–[(24) SAMBA] buons to select a
rhythm style.
The buon of the selected rhythm style will light up.
4. Press the [
] buon to play the rhythm style.
During playback, the LED above the [ ] buon is lit
up. The [M1]
–
[M8] buons blink to indicate the currently-
playing measure of the rhythm style.
5. Use the VOLUME knob to adjust the volume.
6. Use the VALUE dial to set the tempo.
You can set the tempo in a range of q =48–240.
The display indicates the tempo value.
Tip: When rhythm playback is stopped, you can also set
the tempo by pressing the [TAP/END] buon several
times.
7. If you press the buon of a dierent rhythm style,
playback switches to the newly selected rhythm style at
the top of the next measure.
Note: Press the buon slightly ahead of time so that the
rhythm style will be ready to switch.
8. Press the [
] buon to stop playback.
Tip: You can use the chain function to create the rhythm
framework for an entire song and play it consecutively
(see page 20 "Chain function").
Switching variations, and inserting a ll-
in or ending
Each rhythm style provides two variations. Each variation has
three rhythm paerns: basic, ll-in 1, and ll-in 2.

1. Select a rhythm style and play it.

2. Press the [VAR] buon to switch variations of the
rhythm style.
You’ll switch to variation B when the next measure begins.
The LED above the [VAR] buon lights up to indicate that
variation B is selected.
Press the buon once again to return to variation A (the
LED goes dark).
3. During playback, press the [F1] or [F2] buon.
A ll-in plays when the measure changes (the LED lights),
and then the basic rhythm paern returns.
Tip: From the stopped condition, you can press the [F1] or
[F2] buon to start playback with a ll.
4. During playback, press the [TAP/END] buon.
At the next measure, an ending is played and then the
rhythm style stops.
Tip: By using a VOX VFS5 foot switch, you can control the
rhythm style playback while you play your instrument.
