Recording A Setup To Song Mode
8. Aftersavingyoursong,youwillbereturnedtotheSongmodeMAINpage,whereyour
savedsongwillbeloaded.YoucancontinuetorecordoreditthesonginSongmodejust
asyouwouldwithany othersong(seeSongModeandtheSongEditor on page 12‐1.)Each
programfromeachzoneinyoursetupisautomat ically assignedtoatrack(changethe
RecTrkparameterinordertorecordtoasingletrack.)Youcanalsocontinuetorecord
fromSetupmodebygoingbacktostep3,ab ove.Remembertosetthetempo(step5
above)beforerecording,
asthesongtempowillchangeifyoursetupissavedwitha
differenttempo.

Page on page 7 ‐56.)Ifyouplantorecordasongfromthesamesetupseveraltimes,itis
convenientto
setyourdesiredtempoontheSetupMode:COMM ONpageandsaveitwithyour
setup.Bydoingthis,youwillnotneedtoresetyoursetuptempotothedesiredsongtempo
everytimeyouloadyoursetup(asinstep5,above.)
Riffs:IfyouareusingRiffsinyoursetup,
dothefollowingtomakeeachRiffplayatyoursetup’s
tempo(whichalsobecomesyoursong’stempo.)Foreachzonethathasariff,gotothe
SetupMode:RIFF2page(seeTheRIFF2Page on page 7‐61)andsettheBPMparametertoSetup.
Remembertosavechangestoyoursetupwhen
exitingtheSetupEditor.
Effects:WhenrecordingasetupintoSongmode,thesongwillnotretaintheAuxorMaster
effectssettingsofyoursetup.Ifyouwouldlikeyoursongtousethesameeffectsasyoursetup,
copythesettingsofyoursetup’sFX,AUX1,AUX2,andMASTER
EFFECTSpagestotheFX,
AUX1,AUX2,andMasterEffectspagesinyoursong.Alternatively,playingyoursongfrom
setupmodewillallowyoutoheartheeffects.Todothis,loadyoursong,presstheSetupMode
buttontoenterSetupmodeandchooseyoursetup,thenpressthe
Play/Pausebutton.Thiswill
playyoursongfromSetupmode,andtheeffectswillbeintact.
MonoPressure:WhenrecordingasetuptoSongmodewithMultselectedforRecTrkinSong
mode,youmaynoticethateverytrackhasrecordedMonoPressuremessages,evenifthereis
nothingelserecorded
onatrack.Ifthisbothersyou,youcansetthe MonoPressparameterto
OffontheSong:EventFilterRecordingpage(seeSongMode:TheFilterPages(RECFLTand
PLYFLT) on page 12‐15.)ThiswillpreventMonoPressuremessagesfrombeingrecordedtoany
track.Alternatively,youcaneraseMonoPressuremessages
fromspecifictracksafterrecording.

theEditSong:Trackpage,usetheChan/Layerbuttonstochoosethetracktoedit(visibleinthe
Trackfieldatthetoprightcornerofthedisplay.)Set
theFunctionparametertoEraseandthe
EventsparametertoMonoPress.UsetheFromandTofieldstoselecttheentirelengthofyour
song,andpresstheGosoftbuttontoeraseMonoPressuremessagesfromtheselectedtrack.
Repeatthisforeachdesiredtrack.Youcanalsochoose
ALLfortheTrackparametertoerase
MonoPressuremessagesfromalltracks.
ControllerMessages:WhenrecordingasetuptoSongmodewithMultselectedforRecTrk in
Songmode,youmayoftenberecordingmorecontrollermessagesthanyourealize.Thiscan
happenbecausemultiplesetupzonesoftenrespondto
thesamephysicalcontrollers.Thisis
likelytobethecasewhenyouuseasetupcreatedbyduplicat ingzonesanddonotchangethe
controllerdestinationassignmentsforeachnewzone.Oftenthisisthedesiredbehavior,suchas
whenusingzonestocreatelayers.Forexample,ifzoneone
sendspitchbendmessagesfromthe
pitchwheel,andyouduplicatethiszonetocreatealayeredzonetwo,youwilllikelywantthe
zonetwotosendthesamemessagesfromthepitchwheel.Thiswaythepitchoftheselayered
zoneswillbendsimultaneouslywhenusingthepitch
wheel.Butsayforexamplethatyoualso
haveazonethreewithadifferentkeyrangethanzonesoneandtwo,butwhichsendsthesame
messagesfromthepitchwheel.Whileplayingandrecordingyoursetup,thefunctionofthe
pitchwheelwillbeobvious,butsomeconfusioncan
arisewhenyouhaverecordedyoursetup
andyouproceedtorecordmoretracksinSongmode.BecauseyouhaverecordedwithMult
selectedforRecTrk,thetrackforzonethreewillhavepitchbendmessagesrecordedwherever
