LFOsarelow‐frequency(i.e.,subsonicfrequency)oscillators .You’llusetheLFOpagetodefine
thebehaviorofthetwoLFOsavailabletoeachlayer.LFOsareperiodic(repeating)control
sources.Thebasicelementsaretherateandshape,whichdefinehowfrequentlytheLFO
repeats,andthewaveformofthe
modulationsignalitgenerates.
WiththePC3K,youcan setupperand lowerlimitsoneachLFO’srate,andassignacontrol
sourcetochangetheLFO’srateinrealtime,ifyouwish.
Becauseofitsperiodicnature,theLFOisperfectforcreatingeffectslikevibrato(cyclicvariation
inpitch)
andtremolo(cyclicvariationinamplitude).Whenyou’reeditingLFOs,oranycontrol
source,rememberthatitmustbeassignedtocontrolsomeparameterbeforeyou’llhearthe
effectsofyouredits.
LFO1isalwayslocal,meaningthatit’striggeredwitheachNoteOnevent,andruns
independentlyforeachnote
inthelayer.LFO2islocalbydefault,butcanbemadeglobal.Thisis
doneontheCOMMONpage,bysettingtheGlobalsparametertoOn,whichcausesLFO2,
ASR2,FUN2andFUN4alltobecomeglobal.Globalcontrolsuniformlyaffecteverynoteineach
layer.
