Pry the cover at the prying point using a
screwdriver.
Remove the case cover and right ring gear
shim.
Remove the ring gear and left ring gear
shim.
BEARING INSPECTION
Turn the inner race of each bearing in the
gear case and case cover with your finger.
The bearings should turn smoothly and
quietly. Also check that the bearing outer
race fits tightly in the case or cover.
For ring gear case and case cover bearing
replacement (page 15-34).
For pinion gear removal and bearing
replacement (page 15-32).
