AILERON
AUGMENTATION
Spoilers are used
to
provide aileron control augmentation
in
the following
airplane configuration:
1.
SPOILER Switch -
RET.
2.
Raps
- Below
25
degrees.
Aileron augmentation
will
not
be energized with flaps retracted above
25
degrees
or
when
SPOILER switch
is
in
the
EXT
position. Always check that
SPOILER switch
is
in
the
RET position before actuating the SPOILERON
RESET switch.
Normal spoiler operation overrides the aileron augmentation mode of op-
eration
and
the SPOILER light
will
be illuminated anytime spoilers are ex-
tended
1 degree
or
more during normal spoiler operation.
With flaps lowered beyond
13° and spoiler extended, the SPOILER light
will
flash.
If
the aileron augmentation system malfunctions,
the
AUG
AIL
light comes
on
and spoilers retract. However, actuating the SPOILERON RESET switch
will
restore normal operation
if
the system clears itself.
During Spoileron/Spoiler Check,
if
AUG
AIL
light does not come on, pos-
sible failures are:
1.
Computer
monitor failure.
2.
Spoileron selector valve failure.
Continued operation with either of these failure modes could result
in
inad-
vertent asymmetrical spoiler extension. Malfunction should be corrected be-
fore flight.
