Starter-assist airstarts may be used at any Turbine
Speed
(N2)
below 45%. Starter-assist airstarts must
be
used when stabilized Turbine Speed
(N2)
is
below
15%.
Maintaining
an
airspeed sufficient
to
maintain a sta-
bilized Turbine
Speed
(N2)
of 15% minimum
will
en-
hance airstart capability.
Affected Engine:
1. Ensure that aircraft is within REUGHT ENVELOPE as shown in
figure 3-3, this section,
if
conditions permit.
2. Thrust Lever - CUTOFF. Wait
10
seconds to allow
fuel
to
drain
from engine.
3.
Fuel Supply - Check.
a. Fuel available from wing tank.
b.
ARE PULL or ENG RRE PULL T-Handle - Push in.
4.
Fuel Panel Switches -
As
follows:
a. Either
JET
PUMP Switch or
STANDBY
PUMP Switch -
Check,
ON.
b.
CROSSFLOW Switch - CLOSE.
c. FUS
TANK
XFER-RLL Switch -
OFF.
d. FUS
VALVE
Switch
(if
installed) - CLOSE.
5.
Electrical Load - Reduce.
6. NAC HEAT
Switch -
OFF.
7. . BLEED
AIR
Switch -
OFF.
8.
START -GEN Switch -
START.
Starter engaged light
(if
installed)
will
illuminate.
9. Thrust Lever
(at
minimum 10% Turbine Speed
[N2]
and indication
of Fan
Speed
[NI)
rotation) -
IDLE.

AIR
IGN
Ught and FUEL FLOW - Check.
11. Turbine Temp
(nT)
- Check rise within 5 seconds.
12. If Iight-off has not occurred within 5 seconds after the thrust lever
is
placed in
IDLE
position; SPR Switch - Energize, then release
at
300°-400°
Turbine Temp (ITT). Check rise within 5 seconds.
13. At approximately 45%
or
50% Turbine Speed
(N2),
the starter
will
automatically disengage. Check:
a.
AIR
IGN
Light - Extinguished.
b.
Starter Engaged Ught
(if
installed) - Extinguished. If starter
engaged
Ught
remains illuminated, refer to STARTER
ENGAGED UGHT
REMAINS
ILLUMINATED
