3.7 Start Windrowing
Make sure that no persons are near the Lotus when you engage the
PTO.
Make sure that no persons are within a 25 m (27 yd) radius of the Lotus
during operation.
Always switch off the tractor engine before you leave the tractor cab.
Do not operate the Lotus without safety guards or covers, or if the
safety guards or covers are damaged.
During the early stage of the process in particular, fast and airy tedding twice
a day at a low rotor speed is better than intensive tedding at a high rotor
speed.
Procedure
1.
Operate the tractor hydraulic system to lift the rotors to the headland
position.
2.
Put double acting hydraulic tractor valve in floating position.
3. Adjust rotor wheel height, place the locking pin in the applicable hole.
4. Make sure to move the tines to the most inward position (B) (page 4‑
1).
Push the lock down and move the tine. The lock engages
automatically.
5. Make sure the tines touch the ground over a distance of
approximatley 25 cm (9.8 in). Change the angle of the rotor in relation
to the ground via the top link on the head stock.
6. Make sure to fold up the rear warning signs.
7. Fit the windrowing cages to the machine and fold them down.
8. The windrowing cages can be adjusted to two lenghts.
• For 1.0 m (3.28 ft) working width place the windrowing cages in the
front position. And secure the support rod in hole (A) (Figure 26,
page 4‑5).
• For 1.5 m (4.92 ft) working width use the extension plate and place
the windrowing cages in the back position and use hole (B)
(Figure 26, page 4‑5).
9. Make sure to fold down the rear warning signs.
10. Carefully engage the PTO at the lowest possible engine speed.
11. Slowly increase the speed of the PTO to 400-450 rpm.
Do not drive the machine through the crop when the rotor is on the
ground and not rotating. This causes damage to the tines and tine
arms.
