7 MAINTENANCE
Correct machine servicing is necessary with a view to
reliable and safe working.
Install supports underneath the cutter bar if it is lifted
from the ground, and you intend to carry out work to
the machine.
Accessibility of the cutter bar for maintenance is increased
by folding up, or removing the frontmost safety shield
(fig. 16). Proceed as follows.
- Check if the drawbar is locked in the central position.
- Retract the wheel adjustment rams completely.
- Lower the cutter bar onto the ground.
- Remove the two safety shields from the sides.
- The frontmost shield can now be folded up.
- Dismount the pivot pins for removal of the shield.
7.1
Maintenance after operations
- Clean the machine thoroughly. After jet-cleaning allow for
a few moments rotation of the discs so that the water is
swept away.
- Check the mower knives and discs for tightness and
damage. For more detailed information refer to chapter 7.3
“Intermittent maintenance”.
- Check the safety cover for damage.
- Grease the machine with a rust preventive.
- Grease the piston rods with an anti-corrosion agent if a
longer period of inactivity is anticipated. Remove the agent
when putting the machine back into operation. If not,
sealing of the ram may be affected after hardening of the
anti-corrosion agent.
7.2
Lubrication
- PTO shaft to be greased every 8 working hours by the
grease nipples on the cross assemblies, protection tubes
and free wheel clutch (fig. 17).
- Profiled tubes of the PTO shaft to be greased every 8
working hours.
- Grease the PTO shaft above the drive element every 500
working hours (or yearly) in way of the grease nipples on
the cross assemblies. Remove the three bolts from the hood
(A, fig. 18) as well as the sealing plate (B).
Remove ground and/or crop, if any, from the hat.
