Note:HardDisk1meanstheharddiskdrivebuiltintoyourcomputer.
TheLockUEFIBIOSSettingsoptionenablesordisablesthefunctionthatprotectsitemsintheThinkPad
Setupprogramfrombeingchangedbyauserwhodoesnothavethesupervisorpassword.Bydefault,
thisissettoDisabled.Ifyousetthesupervisorpasswordandenablethisfunction,noonebutyoucan
changeanyitemsintheThinkPadSetupprogram.
IfyouselectSetMinimumLength,youcanspecifyaminimumlengthforthepower-onpasswordand
harddiskpassword.Bydefault,thisissettoDisabled.Ifyousetthesupervisorpasswordandspecifya
minimumlengthforpasswords,noonebutyoucanchangethelength.
IfyouselectandenablePasswordatunattendedboot,apasswordpromptisdisplayedwhenthecomputer
isturnedon,fromeitherapower-offstateorhibernation.IfyouselectEnabled,nopasswordpromptis
displayed;thecomputergoesaheadandloadstheoperatingsystem.Topreventunauthorizedaccess,set
theuserauthenticationontheoperatingsystem.
IfyouselectandenablePasswordatrestart,apasswordpromptisdisplayedwhenyourestartthe
computer.IfyouselectDisabled,nopasswordpromptisdisplayed;thecomputergoesaheadandloadsthe
operatingsystem.Topreventunauthorizedaccess,settheuserauthenticationontheoperatingsystem.
Startupmenu
Youmightneedtochangethestartupsequenceofyourcomputer.Forexample,ifyouhavedifferent
operatingsystemsondifferentdevices,youcanhavethesystemstartupfromeitherofthem.
Attention:Afteryouchangeyourstartupsequence,youmustbeextremelycarefulnottospecifyawrong
deviceduringacopy,asave,oraformatoperation.Ifyouspecifyawrongdevice,yourdataandprograms
mightbeerasedoroverwritten.
Attention:IfyouareusingtheBitLocker
®
driveencryption,youshouldnotchangethestartupsequence.
BitLockerdriveencryptiondetectsthechangeofstartupsequenceandlocksthecomputerfrombooting.
Changingthestartupsequence
SelectingStartuptodisplaytheBootsubmenu.
Tochangethestartupsequence,dothefollowing:
1.SelectBoot;thenpressEnter.
YoucanusetheBootsubmenutospecifythestartupsequencethatrunswhenyouturnonthepower.

2.Selectthedeviceyouwanttostartrst.
3.PressF10tosavethechangesandrestartthesystem.
Tochangethestartupsequencetemporarilysothatthesystemstartsupfromadifferentdrive,dothe
following:
1.Turnoffthecomputer.
2.Turnonthecomputer;then,whilethemessage“Tointerruptnormalstartup,pressEnter”isdisplayedin
thelowerleftcornerofthescreen,pressF12.
3.SelectthedeviceyouwanttostartrstfromtheBootmenu.
Note:TheBootmenuwillbedisplayedwhentheoperatingsystemisnotfoundorwhenthecomputer
cannotbootfromanydevices.
