UsingtheLenovoSupportWebsite
IfyourcomputerhasneithertheLenovoSolutionCenterprogramnortheLenovoThinkVantageToolbox
programinstalled,gotohttp://www.lenovo.com/diagnoseforthelatestinformationondiagnosticsforyour
computer.
Note:Runninganytestmighttakeuptoseveralminutesorlonger.Makesurethatyouhavetimetorunthe
entiretest.Donotinterruptthetestwhileitisrunning.
Troubleshooting
Ifyourcomputerhasanerror,ittypicallydisplaysamessageoranerrorcode,orabeepsoundswhen
youturniton.Whenyouexperienceaproblem,refertothecorrespondingsectionsinthistopictotryto
solvetheproblembyyourself.
Computerstopsresponding
Printtheseinstructionsnowandkeepitwithyourcomputerforreferencelater.
Ifyourcomputeriscompletelyunresponsive(youcannotusetheUltraNavpointingdeviceorthekeyboard),
dothefollowing:
1.Pushandholdthepowerswitchuntilthecomputerturnsoff.Afterthecomputeristurnedoff,restartby
pressingthepowerswitch.Ifitdoesnotturnon,continuetostep2.
Note:Donotremovethebatteryandacpowertoresetthecomputer.
2.Whilethecomputeristurnedoff,removeallpowersourcesfromthecomputer(batteryandacpower).
Holddownthepowerbuttonfor10seconds.Plugintheacpowerwhilekeepingthebatteryoutofthe
computer.Ifthecomputerdoesnotturnbackon,continuetostep3.
Note:OncethecomputerstartsupandentersWindowsenvironment,usethepropershutdown
proceduretoturnthecomputeroff.Oncethecomputerisoff,reattachthebatteryandrestartthe
computer.Ifthecomputerdoesnotstartwiththebatteryreattached,removethebatteryandagain
startwithstep2.Ifthecomputerstartswithacpowerbutdoesnotstartwhenthebatteryisattached,
calltheCustomerSupportCenterforsupport.
3.Whilethemachineisoff,removeallsourcesofpowerfromthemachine(batteryandacpower).Remove
allexternaldevicesthatareattachedtoyourcomputer(keyboard,mouse,printer,scanner,andsoon.).
Repeatstep2.Ifstep2isunsuccessful,continuetostep4.
Note:Thefollowingstepsinvolveremovingstaticsensitivecomponentsfromyourcomputer.Makesure
thatyouareproperlygroundedandremoveallsourcesofpowerattachedtothecomputer.Ifyouare
uncomfortableorunsureaboutremovingcomponents,calltheCustomerSupportCenterforassistance.
4.Whilethecomputerisoff,removeallsourcesofpowerandexternalhardware.Refertotheprocedurein
“Replacingamemorymodule”onpage81onhowtoremoveandreseatthememorymodules.Remove
anynon-originalmemorymoduleaddedtoyourcomputer.Afterremovingtheextramemorymoduleand
reseatingtheoriginalmemorymodule,repeatstep2.Ifthecomputerstilldoesnotturnon,consultthe
user'sreferenceguideforothercustomer-replaceablecomponentsthatareattachedtoyourcomputer.
