Solution:Youcandisableanysystemtimers,suchastheLCDturn-offtimerortheblanktimerby
doingthefollowing:
1.StartPowerManager.
2.ClickthePowerplantab,andthenselectMaximumPerformancefromthepredenedpowerplans.
•Problem:WhenIturnonthemachine,nothingappearsonthescreenandthemachinedoesnotbeep
whilestartingup.
Note:Ifyouarenotsurewhetheryouheardanybeeps,turnoffthecomputerbypressingandholding
thepowerswitchfor4secondsormore.Turnitonandlistenagain.
Solution:Makesurethat:
–Thebatteryisinstalledcorrectly.
–Theacpoweradapterisconnectedtothecomputerandthepowercordispluggedintoaworking
electricaloutlet.
–Thecomputeristurnedon.(Turnthepowerswitchonagainforconrmation.)
Ifapower-onpasswordisset:
–Pressanykeytodisplaythepromptforthepower-onpassword.Ifthebrightnesslevelofthescreen
islow,increaseitbypressingHome.
–TypethecorrectpasswordandpressEnter(refertoPower-onpassword).
Iftheseitemsarecorrectlyset,andthescreenremainsblank,havethecomputerserviced.
•Problem:WhenIturnonthemachine,onlyawhitecursorappearsonablankscreen.
Solution:Ifyouhavemodiedapartitiononyourharddiskdrivebyusingapartitionsoftware,information
aboutthatpartition,orthemasterbootrecordmighthavebeendestroyed.
1.Turnoffthecomputer,andthenturnitonagain.
2.Ifyoustillseeonlythecursoronthescreen,dothefollowing:
–Ifyouhaveusedthepartitionsoftware,examinethepartitionontheharddiskdrivebyusingthe
software,andrecoverthepartitionifrequired.
–UseeithertheRescueandRecoveryworkspaceortherecoverydiscstorestorethesystemto

–TouchtheTrackPointorthetouchpad,orpressakeytoexitthescreensaver.
–Pressthepowerswitchtoresumefromsleeporhibernation.
