ToinstalltheMicrosoftWindowsServer2012R2Essentialsoperatingsystem,dothefollowing:
1.Inserttheoperatingsysteminstallationdiscintotheopticaldrivethatyouhavesetasthefirststartup
device.Then,starttheserverfromtheopticaldrive.
2.IfthemessagePressanykeytobootfromcdisdisplayed,pressanykey.IfthemessageWindowsSetup
[EMSEnabled]isdisplayed,pressEnter.Waitseveralminutesforthesystemtoloadthefiles.
3.WhentheWindowsServer2012R2windowisdisplayed,configurethelanguageandotheroptionsas
youneed,andthenclickNext.
4.ClickInstallnow.
5.TypeyourproductkeyandthenclickNext.TheproductkeyinformationisavailableontheMicrosoft
CertificateofAuthenticitylabelorproductpackaging.
6.ReadthelicensetermsandselectIacceptthelicenseterms.Then,clickNext.
7.Selectthetypeofinstallationasyouneed.ThefollowingstepsarebasedonthescenariothatCustom:
InstallWindowsonly(Advanced)isselectedinthisstep.
Note:IfyoudonotneedtoconfigureRAIDonyourserver,gotostep9.
8.IfyouwanttoinstallthedriverfortheonboardSATAsoftwareRAIDorinstalledRAIDcard,dothe
following:
a.Inthe“WheredoyouwanttoinstallWindows?”window,clickLoaddriver.
b.ConnecttheUSBstoragedevicethatcontainsthedrivertoyourserver,andthenbrowsetothe
folderwherethedriverisstored.
c.ClickOK.The“Selectthedrivertoinstall”windowsisdisplayed.
d.SelectHidedriversthataren’tcompatiblewiththiscomputer’shardware,andthenselectthe
driverthatyouwanttoinstallonyourserver.ClickNext.
9.Inthe“WheredoyouwanttoinstallWindows?”window,clickDriveoptions(advanced).Then,click
New.
10.Typetheamountofspace(inMB),andthenclickApply.TheWindowsSetupwindowisdisplayed.
11.ClickOK.
12.Ensurethatthedrivepartitioniscorrect,andthenclickNext.Theinstallationbegins.
Note:Y ourserverwillrestartseveraltimesduringtheinstallation.
13.WhentheSettingswindowisdisplayed,setanadministratorpasswordandclickFinish.Then,follow
theinstructionsonthescreentologintotheoperatingsystem.
Note:Thepasswordmustconsistofuppercaseletters,lowercaseletters,anddigits.
14.Inthe“ConfigureWindowsServerEssentials”window,clickNext.
15.Setyourdateandtime.Then,clickNext.
16.Configurethecompanyinformationasyouneed.ClickNext.
17.Inthe“Createanetworkadministratoraccount”window,setyourusernameandpassword.Then,
clickNext.
18.IntheUpdatesettingswindow,selecttheupdatemethodasyouneed.Thefollowingstepsarebased
onthescenariothatDonotchecktoupdatesisselectedinthisstep.
19.ClickConfigure.Whenthe“Updatingandpreparingyourserver”windowisdisplayed,waitseveral
minutes.Yourserverwillrestartseveraltimes.
20.WhentheConfigurationcompletedwindowisdisplayed,clickClose.Theinstallationiscompleted.
