Battery compartment
WARNING: Batteries are hazardous. Before handling the
batteries, make sure you read and understand all of the
warnings given in Battery handling safety on page 36.
Failure to comply with the warnings increases the risk of
injury, death, or damage to the motorcycle or property.
The battery compartment contains the primary and secondary
batteries.
1. Primary battery (lower)
2. Secondary battery (upper).
Note: The motorcycle will not allow drive mode to be selected
if only the secondary battery is installed in the upper position
of the battery compartment.
When using two batteries, the batteries must be within 3% State
of Charge (SoC) with each other before they will both be used
simultaneously.
Accessing the battery compartment
1. Make sure the motorcycle is resting on the side stand.
2. Turn the ignition key to the ON position and then the OFF position.
3. The instrument panel displays OPEN and a 5-second countdown
begins.
4. During this period, press the compartment unlock button
(arrowed) once (long press) to open the battery compartment.
Note: Once the battery compartment is opened, you have 30
seconds to press the SoC button on a battery to release it.
The 30 seconds then restarts to enable the second battery to
be released.
