Overview

The Major Tech MT777 is a professional True RMS Industrial Digital Clamp Meter designed for accurate and safe electrical measurements. It features a TFT color LCD display, which provides fast A/D conversion sampling time and high accuracy. The device is equipped with Bluetooth technology, making it easier to identify and resolve issues with production equipment by connecting to a smartphone. Its double-molded plastic housing ensures safe measurements.

Function Description:

The MT777 clamp meter is capable of measuring a wide range of electrical parameters, including:

  • AC TRMS Current: Measures alternating current with True RMS accuracy.
  • DC Current: Measures direct current.
  • AC, AC+DC TRMS Voltage: Measures alternating current voltage, as well as the combined AC and DC voltage, both with True RMS accuracy.
  • DC Voltage: Measures direct current voltage.
  • Resistance and Continuity Test: Checks the resistance of a circuit and tests for continuity.
  • Diode Test: Tests the functionality of diodes.
  • Capacity: Measures capacitance.
  • Frequency: Measures the frequency of an electrical signal.
  • Duty Cycle: Measures the duty cycle of a pulse waveform.
  • Temperature with K-Type Probe: Measures temperature using a K-type thermocouple probe.
  • Flexible Coils Current: Measures current using flexible coils (specifically with the MT740, which is mentioned as an accessory).

Usage Features:

The MT777 offers several features to enhance its usability and measurement capabilities:

  • Trend Capture Function: Allows for the capture and analysis of measurement trends over time.
  • 100 Graph Data Review: Provides the ability to review up to 100 graphs of recorded data, aiding in visual analysis.
  • Menu Function: A comprehensive menu system accessible via a dedicated button, offering various settings and measurement options.
  • Data Hold: Freezes the current reading on the display, allowing users to record or analyze the value without it changing. This feature also allows saving the measurement to memory.
  • Peak Mode: Captures the peak values of AC voltage measurements.
  • Max/Min Mode: Records the minimum and maximum input values over a measurement period. The meter beeps and records new values if the input goes below the recorded minimum or above the recorded maximum. This mode is particularly useful for capturing intermittent readings or monitoring unattended equipment.
  • Relative Mode: Displays the difference between the current measurement and a stored reference value.
  • VFD AC Voltage: Specifically designed for measurements on Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), providing accurate readings in such environments.
  • INRUSH Current: Measures the inrush current of motors, which is the initial surge of current when a motor starts. This is activated by pressing and holding the REL button for 2 seconds in the 600A or 1000A range.
  • Bluetooth Connect: The device can connect to a smartphone via Bluetooth. Users need to enable Bluetooth on both the instrument and their smartphone, then use the Meterbox Pro app (available on Google Play and Apple App Store) to connect and access detailed information and functionalities.
  • Rotary Function Switch: A central rotary switch allows users to easily select different measurement functions and ranges.
  • Non-Contact AC Voltage Indicator Light: Provides a visual indication of AC voltage presence without direct contact, enhancing safety.
  • Flashlight: Integrated flashlight function, activated by pressing and holding the HOLD button for 2 seconds, useful for working in dimly lit areas.
  • Auto/Manual Ranging: The meter can automatically select the most appropriate measurement range or allow the user to manually select a range using the RANGE button. Holding the RANGE button for more than 1 second exits manual mode and restores auto-ranging.
  • Datalogger: The device includes a datalogger function, allowing users to set sample rates and durations for recording measurements. Recorded data can be recalled, viewed as graphs (trend expansion), or deleted.
  • Setup Options: The menu provides various setup options, including key sound, Bluetooth on/off, 12/24-hour time format, and Auto Power Off (APO) time settings (15, 30, 45, 60 minutes).
  • Data/Time Setting: Users can set the year, month, day, hour, and minute through the menu.
  • Meter Info: Provides information about the meter's hardware and firmware versions, as well as free memory for recording and saving data.
  • Factory Reset: Allows users to reset all system settings to their factory defaults.

Maintenance Features:

Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and accuracy of the MT777 clamp meter:

  • Cleaning: The case should be periodically wiped with a damp cloth and mild detergent. Abrasives or solvents should not be used.
  • Storage: If the meter is not going to be used for more than 60 days, the batteries should be removed and stored separately to prevent leakage and damage.
  • Battery Replacement: The meter uses three (3) 1.5V AAA batteries. Replacement involves removing a Phillips head screw to access the battery compartment.
  • Temperature Probe Replacement: For K-type thermocouple probes with subminiature (flat blade) connectors, a subminiature-to-banana plug adapter is required.

The MT777 is designed for indoor use and complies with double insulation requirements, specifically IEC1010-1 (2001) and EN61010-1 (2001), with Overvoltage Category III 1000V and Category IV 600V, Pollution Degree 2, ensuring a high level of safety for industrial applications.
