Troubleshooting
Problem Cause Solution
Disk gang is not tilling to desired
depth or the soil is not fully worked to
desired depth.
Disk gang is not set deep enough.
Increase the depth of the disk gang
up to a 4 inch maximum depth.
Whenever you are making a change
to any setting, make sure the unit
remains level as it is pulled through
the eld.
Lower disk gang slightly below the
depth of the spiral reel using the hitch
turnbuckle.
Disk gang angle is not set properly for
the soil conditions.
Increase disk gang angle to loosen
more soil.
Unit bounces or leaves surface
uneven in loose soil.
Disk gang is not set deep enough.
Decrease depth of the spiral reels by
carrying some of the weight on the
wheels. The disk gang can then be
lowered using the hitch turnbuckle
to the desired depth of soil tilling. It
may also be necessary to adjust wing
lift axles, or add gauge wheels to the
disk gangs.
The residue is not being turned into
the ground.
The front gang disk is not set at an
aggressive enough angle.
Increase the angle of the front disk
gang.
The front gang disk is not set deeply
enough.
Increase the depth of the disk gang
up to a 4 inch maximum depth.
Whenever you are making a change
to any setting, make sure the unit
remains level as it is pulled through
the eld.
Travel speed is too slow. Increase travel speed to 8 to 9 mph.
The residue is not being sized
correctly.
The front disk gang may not be set
deep enough.
Increase the depth of the disk gang
up to a 4 inch maximum depth.
Whenever you are making a change
to any setting, make sure the unit
remains level as it is pulled through
the eld.
Ridging is occurring.
Front disk gang is not set correctly.
Raise the disk gang.
Set the angle of the disk to be less
aggressive.
The center disk angles are set
incorrectly.
Increase or decrease the angle of the
outboard center disks to eliminate the
ridging.
Disk gang ridges between adjacent
passes.
The disk gang or wing frame are not
set up properly.
Level the wing frame using the
turnbuckles on the wing wheels to
raise the outside of the disk gang.
Reduce travel speed.
Reduce angle of disks in disk gangs.
Center frame section not working to
desired depth.
Wing frame are set too deep.
Raise the wing frame using the
turnbuckles on the wing wheels
to prevent the wings from working
deeper than the center section.
