Pre-Trip Inspection
Tyres
Before any trip check the following
• Correct tyre pressures
• Tyres are in good condition free from damage and uneven wear.
• Tread is of legal and acceptable depth.
Wheel Nuts
• Ensure wheel nuts are tensioned to the correct torque using a torque wrench.
• All wheel nuts are in place.
Hitch and Chains
• Ensure hitch and chains are free of damage.
• Hitch locking mechanism functions correctly.
• Hitch is properly lubricated.
• Hitch articulates correctly.
Fire Extinguisher
• Extinguisher is properly mounted and within date.
• Extinguisher charge gauge is in green.
Brakes & Breakaway System
• Brakes operate correctly when both operated by manual control and via pedal.
Lights
• Ensure all trailer lights are functioning.
Gas
• Ensure cylinder valve(s) are closed and cylinders are restrained.
• Turn all gas isolation valves to the OFF position.
Bearings and Seals
Bearings are a consumable item should be removed, inspected and repacked with grease every 5,000km
and replaced every 10,000km as best practice. See maintenance schedule for guidance.
