12 Care and maintenance
General cleaning
Wipe off the outside of the appliance with a soft, damp cloth and an off-•
the-shelf dishwashing detergent.
Empty and clean the drip tray (Fig. A, no. 1) regularly, at the latest •
however when the float projects out of the drip grate.
Clean the coffee grounds container regularly.•
Cleaning the steam pipe
Always clean the steam pipe immediately after use if it has been used to •
heat or froth milk.
Wait until the steam pipe has cooled down and wipe it on the outside with •
a damp cloth.
Then turn the steam pipe anticlockwise (Fig. • E).
For thorough daily cleaning, turn the steam pipe anticlockwise (Fig. • F) and
take it apart (Fig. G).
Rinse all the parts under running water or in the dishwasher. Clean the •
nozzle in particular with a pointed object or a brush (Fig. H).
Once cleaned, turn the steam pipe clockwise firmly into the holder.•
Caution!
To avoid damage to the appliance surface do not use micro-fibre cloths, –
scouring cloths, sponges or cleaning products.
Do not clean the drip tray and brewing unit in the dishwasher; this could –
cause deformation.
Note
The coffee grounds container (Fig. A, no. 1) is dishwasher-safe and can be
washed in the dishwasher. Frequent washing in the dishwasher can cause
slight discolouration of the coffee grounds container.
