7 Assembly
33. Install the shift shaft into the housing and through the declutch
fork. Align the notches in the shaft with the holes in the fork.
Install bolts and torque to specifi cation. Install the lock wire as
shown below. Figure 7.57.

34. Install the shift cylinder adapter into the case. Then install the
o-ring onto the shoulder of shift shaft. Coat the o-ring with
Lubriplate or similar. Figure 7.58.

35. Install the declutch shift spring, nylon stop ring, and shift piston
onto shift shaft. Use Loctite 272 threadlocker on the threads and
torque the piston retaining nut to specifi cation. Figure 7.59.

36. Install an oil-soaked felt wiper into the large groove on the shift
piston and install the shift cylinder. Figure 7.60.
