How to fix an AquaLab Measuring Instruments that does not turn on?

  First, check that the power cord is securely attached to the back of the instrument and plugged into the power outlet. If it still doesn't turn on, a power surge may have blown a fuse. To change the fuses: * Unplug the power cord. * Locate the panel where the power cord plugs in; the fuse box is on the right side of that panel. Press in on the release tab and pull the fuse-holder out. * Pull the broken fuse(s) out and replace with a 1.25-A 250-V fuse. * Replace the fuse-holder and push it into the fuse-well until the release tab snaps in place. * Connect the power cord and turn your instrument on. If the fuse blows again, contact METER for repairs, as a failed component may be causing the problem.

What does crystal failure mean on METER Measuring Instruments?

  If the message '(Crystal failure)' appears on the screen, the crystal that runs the firmware is having trouble starting. Try cycling the power to solve the problem. If the message continues to appear, METER needs to service the instrument.

  If the screen displays no moisture content reading, it means the water activity or temperature for that reading is beyond the scope of the moisture sorption isotherm. Ensure that the sample water activity and the instrument controlling temperature are within the scope of the selected moisture sorption isotherm model.

  If moisture content does not appear on the screen, it may not have been activated. Go to the Configuration tab, select %Moisture, and select the appropriate model. If no models appear in the moisture content screen, reload them using AquaLink 4 software.

  If the screen displays a warning that the sample is too hot, it means the sample temperature is too high for the instrument. Ensure you only measure samples that are at the same temperature as the instrument.

  If you ran a test with the wrong model, toggle to the correct model on the measurement screen using the up and down arrow keys. The moisture content value will update to correspond with the selected model. If the correct model is not available, cycle to the Configuration tab, select %Moisture, and the loaded models will appear. If the model is still not available, load the appropriate model using AquaLink 4 Software.

  The displayed moisture content may be incorrect if the selected model is not appropriate for the product being tested. Try toggling through the available models to find a more suitable one. If the model is correct but still gives incorrect moisture content values, consider generating a new model for the product or updating an existing model.

Why are the readings slow or inconsistent on my METER Measuring Instruments?

  Slow or inconsistent readings on your METER Measuring Instruments can occur due to several reasons. The sample chamber might be dirty, so refer to Section 6 for directions on cleaning the sample chamber. The temperature difference between the sample and the block chamber may be too great; the sample must equilibrate to instrument temperature before a fast and accurate reading can be made. Also, some products absorb or desorb moisture very slowly, and in this case, nothing can be done to speed up the process.
