    • T
      Travis LloydAug 9, 2025
Dust or dirt in the field of view of your Motic Microscope can be caused by a few things. It might be due to the aperture diaphragm being closed too far, the condenser being set too low, dust or dirt on the specimen surface, or dust or dirt on the field lens, filter, condenser, or eyepiece. To address this, open the aperture diaphragm, adjust the condenser height, clean the specimen surface, and clean the field lens, filter, condenser, or eyepiece.

Vignetting or uneven brightness in the field of view of your Motic Microscope can occur due to several reasons. It could be that the lamp is not installed properly or not centered, the diffuser is in an intermediate position, or the condenser is not mounted or centered correctly. Also, check if the condenser is set too low, the condenser top lens is not fully swung in/out, the field or aperture diaphragm is closed too far, an improper condenser objective combination is being used, the revolving nosepiece is not clicked into position, or the trinocular eyepiece tube optical path selector lever is in an intermediate position. To resolve this, ensure the lamp is correctly installed and centered, adjust the diffuser, correctly mount and center the condenser, adjust the condenser height, ensure...

If your Motic Microscope image has poor contrast or resolution, several factors could be responsible. The condenser might be set too low, or the aperture diaphragm might be closed too far. Also, check if you are using a cover glass, and that it's of the appropriate thickness. If using an oil immersion lens, ensure you are using immersion oil and that there are no air bubbles present. Verify that you are using the specified immersion oil and that there is no immersion oil on a dry objective. Additionally, a greasy residue on the eyelens or incorrect illumination could be the cause. To fix this, adjust the condenser height, open the aperture diaphragm, use a cover glass of the appropriate thickness, use immersion oil with the oil immersion lens, eliminate air bubbles in the immersion oil, us...
